This recipe captures the essence of a traditional Whiskey Sour with its tangy lemon, sweet syrup, and a hint of smoky undertones from the non-alcoholic whiskey substitute.
Ingredients:
2 oz non-alcoholic whiskey substitute (e.g., Monday Whiskey Substitute)
1/2 to 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz simple syrup
Dash of aromatic NA bitters, like : 'All The Bitter'
Ice cubes
1/2 to 3/4 oz egg white (optional)
Lemon slice and maraschino cherry, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Add the non-alcoholic whiskey substitute, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a dash of NA Aromatic (like: 'All The Bitter') bitters to the shaker.
Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill the mixture.
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice cubes.
I generally use 3/4 oz egg white. (Use fresh eggs) Please NOTE: Raw egg consumption can or may cause food poisoning from salmonella.
> Tips: Break / whisk the egg white a little, this ensures proper measurement of the egg white as the egg white becomes easy to pour and cut when necessary.
>When egg white is used , I dry shake for 10 seconds and then shake with ice, so that the egg white properly combines with other ingredients, creating a frothy texture.
> A “dry shake” refers to shaking ingredients in a cocktail shaker without ice.
> Please do use a couple of drops of aromatic bitter to cover / subdue the smell of raw egg
Optionally, garnish with a lemon slice and cherry for a classic touch. You can burn the lemon wheel a little for the smokiness.
Sip and savor the smoky flavors of the Smoky Whiskey Sour - of course non-alcoholic!
